Q: How do I light my gas stove pilot light?
A: 1. Be sure that you have liquid propane or natural gas fuel available. If you have Propane please check your tank and make sure that your gauge is showing at least 20 lbs of pressure (your unit will not run if you have less than this amount in the tank).
2. Check any shut-offs in the gas line to make sure there is gas flowing to the appliance (Shut-off handle in the on position will be in line with the fuel line).
3. Turn the ON/OFF/Pilot knob to the off position, let set for about 5 minutes to reset the valve and allow it to light after the pilot is lit.
4. Turn the On/Off/Pilot knob to the pilot position, and depress with thumb... DO NOT LET GO (This will manually hold open the internal valve gate, allowing gases to flow into the pilot) *If you let go, repeat step #3 and start over...
5. Depress the ignitor button (usually red or black) Repeatedly as many times as necessary to light the pilot.. (Note if you cannot get the stove to light with-in 30 seconds, then stop, turn knob back to the off position wait 15 minutes and repeat step #3... this allows any gas build-up to dissipate).
6. Once the pilot is lit, continue to hold the knob depressed for a minimum of 60 seconds and then slowly release. (Note: if the pilot flame starts to go out, depress again and hold for another 15-20 seconds. The thermocouple needs to heat up to the point where it will hold open the internal gate in the valve, allowing continuous gas flow).
7. You can now let out the knob fully, and then depress slightly and turn to the on position. Your stove is now ready to operate. (Note: make sure the main switch on the stove is set to the proper operating position - manual on-off, or thermostat/remote).
